How to choose a customs broker in Egypt
A good clearance desk is licensed, clear about what it does, and easy to reach when the file is stuck.
Confirm they are licensed for clearance
Egyptian customs clearance is regulated work. Ask whether the firm is set up to clear as a licensed broker, and where their desk sits. Hendy is based in Alexandria, with Tax ID shown on our contact page, and has cleared customs since 1987.
Ask what they actually clear
Many sites say "logistics" and mean everything. Ask what they clear for sea and land freight. Hendy clears sea and land freight through Egyptian customs. After release we can arrange haulage and warehouse space.
Check years and references
Years in the market and clients who stay matter more than adjectives. Hendy started small in Egypt about forty years ago. An early Unilever partnership still runs today.
One desk when the file is hot
When cargo is on the terminal, you need one person who owns the file. Ask who you call, how fast they reply, and whether clearance, trucking, and storage sit with the same desk or get handed off.
Transparent scope and fees
Clearance fees are separate from duties and taxes. Port storage and shipping line demurrage are separate again. A serious desk explains that split before you appoint them. We price after we see the file.
Checklist before you appoint anyone
Licensed clearance desk. Clear about sea and land versus air. Real years and references you can check. One desk path. Honest about what happens after release. If that list matches what you need, talk to Hendy.
