Form 4 and port storage

Form 4 proves payment to your supplier. When it is late, cargo stays on the terminal and storage fees rise.

What Form 4 is

Form 4 is the bank paper that proves you paid your supplier for the goods. Egyptian customs asks for it as part of the import file. Without it, your shipment cannot move forward.

When Form 4 is late

When Form 4 is late, or any other paper is missing, customs will not release your cargo. It stays on the terminal while the file waits. Every extra day adds port storage fees. That cost is separate from shipping line demurrage on the container.

Why the clock matters

Terminals give limited free time. After that, storage bills climb while you wait on the bank paper or a missing document. Getting Form 4 ready before the cargo arrives is cheaper than fixing the file on the terminal.

After release

A warehouse cannot fix a missing Form 4. Customs must release the cargo first. Once that happens, warehouse space at Alexandria port and outside Alexandria port, including Cairo, gives the cargo a cheaper place to wait than the terminal. We help move it there when you need that step.
