Nafeza and the ACID number

Egypt's trade filing system, the shipment ID customs needs before many imports arrive, and how Hendy helps on the Egypt side.

What Nafeza is

Nafeza is Egypt's online trade window for customs filings. Importers and licensed customs brokers use it to file shipment data with Egyptian customs before and during clearance. ACI advance cargo information runs through the same window.

What the ACID number is

An ACID number is the shipment ID Nafeza gives for a cargo. For many commercial sea imports, that number must exist before the goods leave the foreign port. Your papers must show the same number so Egyptian customs can match the file when the cargo arrives.

Who does what

You remain the importer of record. Your tax and company details must match what is filed. A licensed customs broker can enter the pre shipment data when you give the proper authorization. The foreign seller then uploads shipping papers through Egypt's required electronic channel. Hendy handles the Egypt side of that filing when you appoint us.

When to request the number

Request the ACID early, before the vessel loads, when the rules for your shipment require it. Late filing is a common reason cargo sits at the terminal while fees rise. Review the draft papers before you ask for the number so the filing matches the load.

What must match

The ACID, the commercial papers, the product codes for customs, and the cargo description must tell the same story. A mismatch between the electronic file and the paper file is a frequent cause of holds.

What goes wrong without a valid ACID

If the number is missing, expired, or does not match the papers, customs may hold or refuse the cargo. Port storage then adds cost while the file is fixed. Getting Nafeza right early is cheaper than fixing it on the terminal.
