GOEIC and product approvals in Egypt
Some goods need more than a standard customs file. GOEIC and related checks are product specific. We confirm what applies to your cargo.
What GOEIC is
GOEIC is Egypt's General Organization for Export and Import Control. For many product types it sits beside customs as a control point for quality, safety, or registration rules. A missing GOEIC step can stop the shipment even when the customs file looks complete.
Checks depend on the product
Rules depend on the product code, the origin, and the current control lists. Food, chemicals, textiles, electronics, and other regulated goods are common examples. We look at your product and tell you what the file usually needs.
Why this creates port delay
Importers sometimes assume the commercial invoice is enough. Cargo arrives. Customs or control offices ask for a registration, conformity paper, or inspection result that was never started. The terminal clock keeps running while the approval catches up.
What to send us early
Product description, intended use, origin, and draft commercial papers. If you already have prior approvals for the same product, send those too. Early review is cheaper than fixing the file on the terminal.
Approvals inside the clearance plan
Clearance is our main work. When a product needs extra approvals, we flag them as part of the file plan, then follow the customs path at Egyptian ports. Tell us what you are shipping and we will tell you what approvals the file usually needs.
