Product codes for Egyptian customs
Every item needs the right product code for customs, often called an HS code. The code must match what is actually in the shipment.
What a product code is
A product code for customs is the number used to classify the goods. People often call it an HS code. Customs uses it to decide duty treatment, control rules, and whether the description on the papers matches the load.
Why wrong codes create holds
If the code does not match the goods, customs may recheck, reclassify, or inspect. Plastic resins, chemicals, paper, tea, and building materials each need exact descriptions. Vague wording invites the same delay as a wrong number.
Codes must match the whole file
The code on the customs filing should match the commercial invoice and the packing list. It should also match what the supplier actually shipped. A clean Nafeza filing with a bad code is still a problem file.
Codes come from your product description
Duty rates and control lists change. Hendy reviews your product description and proposes the codes for the clearance file, then stands behind that work at the port.
